Dancing Through the Decades, Hello 2020!
2019 was an eventful year with insightful challenges but even more humbling successes. This past year DeWys Manufacturing was named as one of the Best and Brightest Companies to work for in West Michigan in addition to winning the national level award! The past decade has continued to form our company into the leading precision sheet metal manufacturer. Our focus on values to advance our processes, respect each other’s character, centralize our customers and continually empower our talented team members has been key in reaching our wildest goals.
The last decade of success and failures have been the building blocks to who DeWys Manufacturing is today and will continue to be in the future. In 2010, we implemented 6S, layered process audits and introduced electronic portals for our lean operations. The Fabricators magazine unveiled DeWys Manufacturing at number 9 on the Fab 40 list of top U.S. metal fabricating operations. As we continued to lead by example, we cared about our people then and will continue to do every day we exist. These were the early developmental years for our training program. In 2012, we marked our calendars for the first training lesson under DeWys University! As the years rolled on, we added a 24,000 sq. foot addition, spend hundreds of hours volunteering outside of our four walls, invested in the career paths of team members and centralized our customers as our own family. In 2017, DeWys Manufacturing was able to celebrate our 40-year anniversary back when we started from our late founder Mark DeWys’ vision and passion for a one stop shop manufacturing company.
We tackled our cohesive vision in 2019 with a change of leadership and continuing goals. We advanced our processes by adding a 30,000 sq. foot addition making room for a Stainless Solutions value stream and creating 41 new positions. Team members at DeWys Mfg. pursued purposeful actions to advance the process which included creating a new way to handle material coming in, developing low cost prototypes to save time and modifying equipment to increase flow of product. In 2019, DeWys Manufacturing was recognized for the Community Impact Award through the Michigan Manufacturers Association and we could not be more proud of our team members making an impact inside and outside of these four walls.
DeWys Manufacturing is seeing clearly with 2020 vision in this upcoming year. With some more wiggle room in our new space, we are launching our new stainless solutions value stream, investing into the community and enriching career paths.
