DeWys Manufacturing Welcomes Two Business Unit Managers to their Management Team

Marne, MI – DeWys Manufacturing, a DeWys Metal Solutions company, is pleased to announce the addition of Eric Vermillion and Matt Shea as their new Business Unit Managers. Eric will oversee the Paint Line and Assembly areas while Matt will manage the production Value Streams. In their new roles they will be reporting to the Operations Manager and responsible for monitoring and improving performance metrics defined within the companies departmental and corporate one-page strategic plans. They will also be evaluating and identifying capacity needs to meet customer demands while staying committed to the success and safety of all stakeholders.

With over 15 years of experience, Eric has a degree in Industrial Finishing Technology as well as work experience within the powder coating field throughout a variety of industries. Working his way from a production engineer, to paint operations manager, to now Business Unit Manager at DeWys, he has gained the knowledge and skills needed to successfully lead the teams to future success and growth. “My hands on experience with building and running paint lines will help give me the tools needed to grow these departments as well as mentor and lead the team.” – Eric V.

Matt received his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 2015 from the University of Dayton then quickly moved to Austria after graduation to work as a Field Application Engineer alongside a research and development team. After a year of international experience, Matt moved state side where he worked as an Engineering Manager growing their team from 5 to 15. His background in manufacturing and knowledge with sheet metal provide him with the tools and insights needed to be successful in this new role. “DeWys is strategically growing right now, and I look forward to helping navigate through these challenges and opportunities as a team.” – Matt S.

Outside of work they both enjoy fishing in the great outdoors, rooting on their favorite sports teams, or spending quality time with family and friends. The team at DeWys is optimistic about the future and the addition of Eric and Matt make them an essential part of the company’s growth.

State-of-the-Art Fiber Laser Finds a Home at ReFab Metal Fabrication

Grand Haven, MIReFab Metal Fab is pleased to announce the addition of a new Bystronic 6k Fiber Laser at their facility. This laser will allow ReFab to process parts efficiently while continuing to meet the company and customers quality standards. With the ability to cut parts out of sheets up 6’ x 12’ and ranging in materials up to 1.125” thick, the laser presents an opportunity for the company to target current and prospected industries for future growth.

DeWys Manufacturing Receives Safety Award of Merit from Fabricators & Manufacturers Association

MARNE, MI – DeWys Manufacturing was recently chosen to receive a 2021 Safety Award of Merit from the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA). Open to all FMA company members, the FMA/CNA Annual Safety Awards recognize metal fabrication companies that adhere to excellence in safety.

Sponsored by CNA, the endorsed business insurance carrier for FMA, the Awards are designed to promote safety in the industry, and winners are selected by the FMA Safety Council. The Safety Award of Merit is given to companies posting an injury and illness incidence rate for the reporting period that is better than the published Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) rate by 10 percent or greater, based on their NAICS code.

To be eligible to receive recognition, companies were required to submit OSHA Form 300A, Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, for the period Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2020. Firms of all sizes were eligible. Winners were selected based on North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code categories and BLS injury and illness incidence rates.

In his new role, Jim will be overseeing the purchasing, materials planning, and shipping departments, as well as working alongside the leadership team to establish and execute a long-term vision for growth.

With years of experience in this industry and a degree in Material Logistics Management with an emphasis in purchasing, operations, and distribution from Michigan State University, Jim understands the importance of continuous improvement, quality, performance, and positive relationships with customers to understand their requirements. As the new Supply Chain Manager, he plans to provide DeWys with financial gain, introduce new technologies, and new innovative ideas. DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West-Michigan based metal solutions company – is pleased to announce the addition of Jennifer Slocum to the Human Resources team as their Senior HR Generalist. In her new role, Jennifer will be accountable for impacting acquisition and retention, aiding team members, playing an integral part in company culture and implementing safety initiatives.

With over 15 years of experience and growth in the field of Human Resources, Jennifer is looking forward to the joys and opportunities this job will present. She received a Bachelor of Business Management with a focus in Human Resources from DeVry University. With her schooling and a background in manufacturing, she is familiar and comfortable with the industry, culture, and environment.

When asked what her favorite part of this occupation is, Jen replied “Having the opportunity to relate and grow relationships with the team members. I am outgoing and social so connecting and gaining their trust is important to me.”

Outside of work, Jennifer lives a simple and very happy life. You can find her either spending quality time with her children, taking care of her four-year-old thoroughbred at the horse barn, or watching sports and socializing with friends!

Jennifer’s ability to connect with others, problem-solve and stay calm under pressure will make her an essential part of the DeWys Manufacturing team.
