This turret has a wide variety of capabilities including automated sheet loading and unloading, the ability to complete coined in features such as tapping, countersinking, and letter stamping. In addition, it has ram positioning accuracy, a full set of high performance, quick adjust, large station air-blow holders, and precision ram motion control.
The new Amada EMK3612 offers DeWys Mfg. the capability of new forming features that can be difficult, impossible, or cost prohibited to complete in a press brake. The power vacuum system eliminates “slug pulling” which in turn helps improve our production efficiency for our customers. When the turret capabilities are combined with lower operating costs, it will result in a more economic solution compared to laser cutting. The Amada EMK3612’s new benefits will help DeWys Mfg. continue to provide improved service and opportunities to our customers.
Marne, MI (August 7th, 2015) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West – Michigan based metal solutions company, is pleased to announce the addition of Brandon Secord as our new Mechanical Designer.
In his new role, Brandon will be working as a part of the engineering team to improve customer product designs and customer relationships. He will also be instrumental in working with team members to improve overall design capabilities for our customers.
Prior to joining DeWys Manufacturing, Brandon was a student at Ferris State University. He received his Associates in CAD Drafting and Tool Design. Brandon was a part of MIGHTS (Michigan Industry and Technology Society) in high school and RSO (Registered Student Organization) during college. He also had a summer internship at a metal stamping company where he assembled dies and worked in the prototyping department. These opportunities will give Brandon the knowledge and experience needed to bring new insight to DeWys Manufacturing, and be a valued team member.
Marne, MI (July 8th, 2015) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West – Michigan based metal solutions company, is pleased to announce a change in leadership roles.
Jon DeWys (owner), C.T. Martin (owner), and Mark Schoenborn will be gaining new responsibilities as well as working together to ensure DeWys Mfg. continues to grow in the future.
Jon DeWys (pictured center) transitioned from President to CEO of DeWys Manufacturing. This new role will allow him to spend more time working “on the business rather than in the business”. Therefore, he is now able to be more involved with the community, continuing to improve the talent pipeline, as well as increase brand awareness. C.T. Martin (pictured left) moved from Vice President to President of DeWys Manufacturing. In this new role, C.T. will be taking over day to day business operations, as well as increasing sales and capacity. Sharing in these daily responsibilities, Mark Schoenborn (pictured right) will move to a newly created position, as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Along with managing materials, finances, and customer service, he will work closely with Jon and C.T. to ensure daily business operations at DeWys Mfg. continue to run efficiently.
DeWys Manufacturing foresees this new partnership will be beneficial for focusing on internal and external needs of the business. Furthermore, the transition will continue to build the DeWys Mfg. brand and future involvement in the community.
Marne, MI (June 19th, 2015) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West – Michigan based metal solutions company, is pleased to announce the addition of six summer interns and co-op students.
This is the fifth summer that DeWys Mfg. has offered opportunities to students looking for experience in their field of study. The interns are excited to take the theories learned in the classroom and practice them with professionals in that industry. Thus creating an opportunity not only for the interns, but also for DeWys Mfg. team members to collaborate and gain a new prospective on job related functions. Five years ago when DeWys Mfg. started an internship program, welding was the only field offered. Now we have a wide variety of programs ranging from accounting and IT to engineering and supply chain management. Each intern is assigned a mentor and a project with meetings held biweekly to check in on progress; finishing with an overall presentation to the management team at the end of the summer.
DeWys Manufacturing has a long history of working with students from high schools and colleges in the West Michigan area. The classroom knowledge these students bring to DeWys helps to improve our processes and procedures, ultimately benefiting the customers we serve. The interns take away the confidence needed to maneuver through real world experiences. Kyle VanderStelt and Andrew Stouffer are Co-Op mechanical engineering students from Grand Valley State University and both agree that, “you will never have a career where you won’t be able to apply the knowledge learned at DeWys Mfg.” Mitch Breuker, a sales intern from Davenport University said, “the relationships I have developed here at DeWys Mfg. will help me navigate the complicated spider web that is called business”. Therefore, DeWys believes creating these opportunities is a winning combination for us and our interns.
Marne, MI (May 18th , 2015) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West – Michigan based metal solutions company, is pleased to announce the addition of Andrew DeWys as our new Buyer.
He will become the second generation in the family business, continuing a 40 year tradition in precision sheet metal fabrication. In his new role, Andrew will be responsible for the Supply Chain, which includes purchasing, supplier selection, and other supply chain activities.
Andrew graduated from Davenport University with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. While in school he had a supply chain internship where he worked on material flow and 5S projects, along with creating an inventory analysis on how to maintain proper stocking levels. Andrew’s passion for metal fabrication began at DeWys Mfg. with experiences in shipping/receiving, inventory control, as well as various materials and continuous improvement projects. These experiences and his appreciation for the family business will make him a great asset to the DeWys Manufacturing team.
Marne, MI (April 24th, 2015) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West – Michigan based metal solutions company, is pleased to announce the addition of a new state-of-the-art powder coat system.
The new paint line features a 900 ft. conveyor system, touch screen control panels, along with customer specific racking and load design capabilities. Additional advantages entail a five stage stainless wash with an advanced zirconium seal to improve corrosion resistance, a modern climate control powder room, and a temperature censored cure oven to track overall cure process. Highlighting the new powder coat system is the Nordson Encore XT powder coat guns with Nordson Color on Demand System, allowing for a wide range of settings that will greatly increase quality and consistency for all customer parts.
The new DeWys Mfg. paint line continues the LEAN journey started twenty years ago by doubling the line speed giving you greater on time delivery. Throughput is increased by 75%, and powder waste is decreased by 20%. In addition, a super shift has been established consisting of paint line and assembly. This team combines their talents to assure paint production has the proper flow and runs efficiently, creating value for all our customers.

In his new role, Andy will be a dynamic addition to our sales team by providing a more personalized experience for our customers. He will call on management representatives to assure manufacturability of products and services offered. Also, he will review blueprints, requests for quotes, and other customer documents to develop a stronger customer partnership with DeWys Manufacturing.
Prior to joining DeWys Manufacturing, Andy graduated from Michigan Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. While in school he was involved with the snowboard and paintball club. Andy’s 9+ years of vast industry experience with manufacturing will give him the knowledge needed to succeed with DeWys’ diverse customer base, and add additional value to the DeWys sales team to meet all of the customer’s needs.
Marne, MI (February 16th, 2015) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West Michigan based metal solutions company, is pleased to announce the addition of Megatron, the new large weldment cell.
This robotic weld cell includes a Fanuc ARCmate 120ic robot, a custom built CNC controlled H-type cam indexer driven positioner, and a Lincoln Electric Power Wave i400 welder which is the most featured filled welder on the market. The new positioner will allow parts to be rotated to 8 different positions for weld access, allowing for more complex weldments to be achieved in one setup. The new weld cell also employs a ½ ton overhead bridge crane which allows heavy weldments to be removed from the custom built, high precisions jigs with ease.
Megatron is a DeWys built and assembled weld cell. Creating the weld cell on location allows it to be highly customizable to meet the customer’s needs. It also can accept a variety of electronics and sensors, such as inductive proximity which will ensure parts are located properly in the jigs and are welded to the highest quality every time. Also this cell will weld 3x faster than hand welding, giving you faster production and also the ability to run large batches of complex weldments. The Megatron has impressive repeatability of ±0.0008” at a 24” radius from the jig rotational center point, and accommodating parts up to 60” in length. In our mission to better serve the customer, DeWys is pleased to welcome the new Megatron large weldment cell as the next step in offering a higher quality weld at a competitive price.
Marne, MI (January 5th, 2015) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West Michigan based metal solutions company, is a recent recipient of an $18,800 grant from the Workforce Development Agency’s Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) program.
The STTF provides competitive awards for employees who have developed and implemented workforce training programs to enhance the skills, efficiency, and employment retention, while increasing the quality and competitiveness of Michigan’s businesses.
This state funded grant allows DeWys Manufacturing the opportunity to hire and train ten new team members in the press brake and welding departments, along with holding Kata training for team leads by September 2015.
Training for the new team members will be held through our DeWys University, a curriculum built on both theory and practice. Students receive six weeks of instructional and hands-on experience with a trainer in one of the five subject areas-welding, press brake operation, powder coating, machining, and cutting-followed by another six weeks of mentoring on the shop floor.
Kata training will be provided on-site by Grand Rapids Community College. Kata is a Japanese term that means way or manner of doing or how to do. In the workplace Kata’s are a small, structured practice routines or protocols that help an organization get stronger at achieving goals and meeting challenges. This will allow DeWys to achieve the next level of their lean journey.
Marne, MI (November 10th, 2014) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West – Michigan based metal solutions company, is pleased to announce the addition of new equipment to their manufacturing capability.
A state of the art WDM plate roller and a Hydmech saw were recently installed at our 90,000 square foot manufacturing facility near Grand Rapids, MI. The plate roller is a CNC four roller machine that can form sheet metal, as well as steel plate up to 3/8’ to 4’ wide and create a variety of shapes based on a customers requirements. This new roller decreases the run time for each part by 50%. The new band saw, a M-16A automatic scissor style band saw, has miter cutting capabilities for heavy duty applications. It will miter from 90 degrees to 60 degrees. This will increase efficiency by 50% due to bundle cutting capabilities.
These technology advances will continue to add value and grow their capabilities for all our customers. This will also help DeWys better our lean manufacturing focus. By maintaining the right machines along with the right production process, we can continue to guarantee an overall exceptional experience.
